When I stepped outside this morning to the Michigan snow I was upset by the fact that summer was gone and winter was here. But then my fashionista side kicked in and I remembered that the winter season means time for new clothes and setting/trying new trends. This will be an interesting season as buyers in all tax brackets are pinching pennies when it comes to clothing and accessories. After looking into my crystal ball of fashion, well talking to a few fashion insiders and bloggers here are my fashion predictions this year.

Flannel prints. I know most time when we speak of flannel we vision Al from Home Improvement or warm winter pajamas, but textile makers are creating some amazing flannel prints that could possibly revamp the flannel shirt.

Vintage is back. A few DIY mavens brought vintage back this season with pieces mixed with a little bit of old and a little bit of new which is the key to rocking vintage.

Bye bye bling. Like I mentioned earlier people are trying to save on money on clothing which pushes designer to tone down the flair when it comes to graphic tees and designer jeans. Now designers are opting for more subtle designs to save on manufacturing cost while keeping quality materials. This season you’re going to shop for quality pieces that you can wear two or three years.

Adding on extras. To replace the glamour of the clothing more and more people are adding more and more accessories to their wardrobe. The best thing about accessories is that you can add them to just about any outfit for a little pizzazz. I remember when I was younger about once very year my mother and I would go through her large clothes collection and weed out the things that she had finally decided were definetly out of date, couldn't fit her, or just weren't her style. This was a wonderful time for me because I would then sort through her piles take the rejects and make my own piles. Being the fashionista that I am one pile would be things that I thought were so cute my mother had to be crazy to let go, things that I could cut up and reconstruct to be something totally new, and the absolutely hideous things that I can't believe my mother ever wore and I was so glad that she was giving away-this pile ususally ended up at Salvation Army or donated to some sort of charitable clothing drive. Amongst these piles some time in the late 90's I remember seeing my mother's skinny jeans tossing them to the side thinking it was another fad and would never come back much like the shoulder pad. My mother would say, " You should keep them, everything goes in a big circle there's nothing new.".

It's amazing how many times in life as I grow up and had one of those moments when I realized that the things I thought my parents were absolutely crazy for saying when I was younger come true when I get older. I think about moments like these everytime I slide myself into my skinny jeans, throw on some bangles, and decorate myself with neon make-up and glitter. I look at todays music videos and think " so this is what it looked like back in the day".

So how is it that some people are so shocked and even disgusted by young males wearing skinny jeans? Aren't they just copying the style of men in the 80's who wore straight leg Levi's as they perfected their break dance moves?

Even the founder's of hip-hop Run DMC used to wear skinny jeans and Adidas back in the day? So why is it that now wearing skinny jeans for a male raises unneccesary questions about sexuality?

Come on guys baggy jeans can't last forever. I can't believe rappers such as Jay-Z have actually went as far as to criticize the New Boyz for wearing skinny jeans. Come on they're just kids doing something different.

I'm glad that they are confident enough to go against the grain and try something new. Besides I think skinny jeans are cool and a part of true hip hop.

Okay so i have been MIA for about a month now...been super busy planning a fashion show, working on the premiere collection, starting a magazine, and being super woman...but enough about me let's get back in action with fashion!!!!

Okay so you know that part of beyonce's song where she says if she were a boy she would just get up and go...well now that is a reality!

Okay so lately I have been working on my premiere collection and have been experimenting with different pieces and stuff like that...well this morning it was extremely chilly in Detroit, MI and my low cut blouse while fierce looking was not weather appropriate! So me being the innovator that I am...and not wanting to change my perfect outfit...was determined to find a solution. So I went throughmy closet feverishly trying to find maybe a shirt to wear under the one I already had on but nothing seemed to work. I was almost ready to give up when I stumbled across an old fabric scarf that I had been experimenting with. i wrapped it around my neck and took a look in the mirror and was instantly satisfied.

now there was a time when i thought people were complete idiots for wearing these scarves around their necks...I never saw the appeal in it. But one chilly day in Detroit forced me to see how this simple adornment can add sophisticated flair to any outfit.
